After a hectic day I came back to see someone playing this and quickly realised how much I miss home.

The case of a man convicted of simulating sex with his bicycle has sparked a debate about human rights and the privacy of an individual. Internet message boards have been buzzing with comment about the case of Robert Stewart, 51, from Ayr. He was reported by cleaners at a hostel who unlocked his door and found him engaged in a sex act with his bike. Stewart was put on the Sex Offenders’ Register, which some posters said was an over-reaction by the sheriff.

Stewart admitted a sexually aggravated breach of the peace by conducting himself in a disorderly manner and simulating sex. As well as being put on register for three years, he was put on probation for the same length of time. Check this out here..

Sunday weather:

Sunset at 16:09 (GMT), raining cats and dogs and 3 degrees centigrade.

How bad can it get ?

And ofcourse a bad hangover.. this was the setting for my 2007 diwali celebrations. I went over to this place.. Hemel Hampsted like 50 kms from London.(Few of the Londoners have told me that they flew over that place once). Got glimpses of the English country side.. (Not much of a difference from Indian except that we have bulls instead of horses). After a good drive I got to reach this place.. and it was damn cold. My friends told me that the temperature was like ‘-1′.

Anyways we soon forgot all about that and got busy for the party later in the evening.. This btw is a Diwali party (I know, its kinda too late, but apparently they couldn’t get hold of the hall last week). There was a decent crowd and we had lots of fireworks and stuff like that. The low point of the day was that there was a lucky draw for two tickets to Europe and I missed it by a single digit. After that we danced and drank the night away.. and I finally got to sleep early in the morning.

I was more than happy to finally grab my T61 after its one month journey. The entire episode began when I chose to place an order for one to be delivered to a New York address, during the first week of october. A friend of mine said he would help in getting it across the atlantic during the last week of october. The customer support told me that they would be able to deliver the laptop in two weeks time, which I though would add for the delta delays.

So, I kept waiting for an update from Lenovo.. No news and I decided to dial them up. The customer support guys say that my credit card was held up because they were not able to located the Bank’s phone number !!! I patiently tell give them a number and after a week later they tell me that they are not able to reach the bank. This was in the third week of october. I spent an hour explaining them how the credit card system works and they said they would make a special request on my behalf.

I couldn’t get the laptop delivered on time and so it got stuck up at New York. Finally in the second week of november I found someone who could get it across. And here I am spending a first weekend with my T61 .. ;) . I have to admit that I have a huge liking for ThinkPads. In the market we have a lot of nice glossy coloured lids, but I believe there is something about the matte black finish of a ThinkPad which sets them apart.

I ran into an old friend of mine and we planned for dinner at this place ‘Mehek’. With the typical chilly wind coming strong, we were more than happy to rush into this place, but soon realized that the chill wind was more friendly. A host of awards displays welcome you.. and I was really impressed by the ambiance of the place. There was a small crowd there, it being a monday evening. I was really surprised by the choice of drinks here. (esp. they had only two brands of beer and most of the drinks were “unavailable”). The time for starters came.. and this head looking waiter comes and insists that the starters won’t be delivered unless you order the main course. We told him that we would like to taste the starters and then would continue on to ordering some main course.. but he was very adamant that unless we order the main course he is not going to give the starters. We didn’t want to spoil our evening by walking away .. so we stuck around made a gentle complaint to someone around. They were very apologetic about the entire episode and immedietly delivered our starters and drinks. I would say that the food was passable .. and I left the place wondering what all the awards stand for. It was ironic to read this on their website the next day..

To ensure every trip to Mehek is an intriguing one, guests are looked after by a team of friendly and hospitable staff; who concentrate on making sure that guests enjoy their time, and experience the unique gastronomic adventure in ‘Mehek’ style.

Couldn’t resist posting this story across.

The romantic tale of a New Yorker.

From Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, 1594:

What’s in a name? that which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet;

A friend of mine quizzed me about the name of the Blog. And here it goes.

‘Crazy assholes’ .. this was the thought in the minds of two iit grads and an iim grad, when they were in the midst of 10000 people, in the rain, on a busy weekday in London waiting for him.

We left the office early, quite eager to catch Dipika and Shahrukh at the Om Shanti Om premiere. We expected a decent crowd to turn up overthere.. And we totally got our numbers wrong. We somehow managed to wrestle our way to one of the front rows(that btw.. took us more than 30 mins). The crowd suddenly started shouting and we thought SRK has come.. turns out that it is Arjun Rampal. Meanwhile it has started raining… but we could only see more people pouring in.

Shahrukh and Dipika at the premiere

After quite a wait.. Shahrukh’s car appeared. And the crowd went mad. There was this particular girl in the row before me, who was already in cloud nine. And Shahrukh finally comes and I have to state this. He spent atleast 30 mins going around and shook hands with fans and this girl got to kiss him on the cheeks.. and she went nuts.

We were there for a couple of mins more and the three of us left with this thought.. “Can’t believe people are so crazy about him” [:P]

Quick fact: ‘Om Shanti Om’ is the first Indian movie to be premiered at Leicester square, London

Hmm.. This would have been my 6th attempt at maintaining a Blog. Yet another lazy weekend.. spending my time cleaning my inbox when suddenly a mail from wordpress pops in.  I don’t even remember having an account with them .. I check it in.. and here comes my first post.
